FUEL’S PARADISE LOST
Food and energy costs are now two sides of the same dollar.
It is not speculators that have forced up prices. It is population. Fossil fuels keep the world fed and moving and half of today’s population would already have starved without those fuels and twice as much land would have been used for agriculture.
But fossil fuel and food supply cannot grow fast enough at current prices to feed the next decades. Energy and the food it grows and moves will rise in value so that the rich will use less and the poor will have to make do with less too.
