SHALE OIL AND OIL PRICES – JUN 2012

US shale oil production is very capital intensive whilst being probably less important as a long term supply source than deep water oil from the Gulf of Mexico. Future production from either shale oil, tar sands, deepwater or bio-fuel all require high prices. The acceptable oil price for OPEC is now at $100 a barrel.
